Theft at Sanjay Dutt’s ancestral house Theft at Sanjay Dutt’s ancestral house
Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network
Thieves broke into the ancestral home of Sanjay Dutt in Mandoli village of Yamunanagar, early on Saturday morning. His uncle Som Dutt and his wife were not home, as they had left for Bombay about two weeks back, in connection with the TADA court’s verdict on the actor.
As per sources, the thieves decamped with cash, jewellery and other articles valued between Rs 6 - 7 lakhs. The Dutts own farm land in the village. Deewan Suraj Dutt, a cousin of late Sunil Dutt, said Som Dutt has been informed about the theft.
For those who don’t know, Sanjay Dutt’s father, late Sunil Dutt, along with his mother Kulwanti Devi, sister Rani and brother Som Dutt, has settled in Mandoli village of Yamunanagar in Haryana, after partition.

Rocky - Jokes aside, but like ex-President Kalam, do you personally want him to rot in jail ?

Thanks jeegs253.
Well, I used to respect Mr. Kalam till last month and wanted him to have a second term.
But reading his views on Dutt ( I mean he pardoned Parliament bommbimg assused Afzal, much to Mr. Thackrey’s irritation) and says Dutt should be punished because Congress did not support him and Dutt’s family is all about Congress.
He for me ( from today) is a typical power hungry mallu.

Tango- Ek baar galti hoti hai( possession of Gun), Doosri baar Aadat hoti hai ( Talking to the underworld)
Personally I think that these celebreties, politicians etc have always thought themselves to be above the law. This along with Vikas Yadav and Manu Sharma’s sentence will somehow deter future brats to misbehave.
Personally I like Sanjay ever since Naam but I am trying to be objective here.
IMO Amitabh too should pay the fine for fasifying his Farmer status.
Comment by jeegs253 on 6 August 2007:
Tango - on the case of Afzal its congress who has to be blamed. the petition from Afzal has not been sent to Kalam by the centre and thus he could do nothing .
Congress played some great cards during presidential elections like making Mayawati free , making strong hindu supporters Anti Kalam by playing Afzal card.
on Dutt i dont think its anything wrong in saying he should have got jail . we as fan of sanju thinks he should not have got such harsh decisions but under the sections sanju was booked had any sentence btw 5-10 years .
also Tada court in gen. has been too harsh in the bomb blast case.
Kalam is one president i respect, he made the president house in reach of general public .
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
Tango what exactly did kalam say about sanjay???
Comment by jeegs253 on 6 August 2007:
add to it Tada court has given 5 years punishment to the person who was ordered by sanju to destroy the weapon . is that not harsh .
sanju got additional one year punishment just coz he involved his friend in the crime too.
Comment by Ravi on 6 August 2007:
I, personally would not like Sanjay Dutt going to Jail or spending time in there but just because he is a celebrity or has money he should not be able to get away.
If it was a normal(you or me) person we would not have even thought about it for a second, Salman alredy got away and lot of others so feel bad for Dutt but law has to take its course at least once in a while.
Comment by Ravi on 6 August 2007:
Kalaam along with Dr. Radhakrishna are some of the best president’s India has had.
Comment by rks on 6 August 2007:
They may be termed non-partisan, but IMO Dr. Rajendra Prasad, who knew his power and a better politician.
Comment by Qalandar on 6 August 2007:
Sanjubaba has already gotten a big break because he was tried under Arms Act and not TADA no? Many people with offenses no more grave than his were tried under TADA and have received much stiffer sentences — not to mention that many did NOT get or were not able to post bail, enabling them to maintain their careers outside. I feel terrible for Sanju (who I am convinced is clueless rather than one with criminal/anti-national intent), but let’s face facts here.
Salman Khan has been a borderline psychopath for years, although he seems to have been on good behavior of late: the poaching incident (bad enough to shoot an endangered species, but to do it in an area where the animal is held sacred by the local Bishnoi is sone pe suhaaga), the drunken killing of pavement dwellers, the credible reports of physical abuse of three different women– I mean this guy is out of control!
Comment by Ravi on 6 August 2007:
Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a pain in the butt for Nehru.
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
Salman khan has also been a bit unlucky that he has always been caught. There must be thousands of rich kids doing worse things than what Salman did and have never got caught or have paid their way out.
Comment by rks on 6 August 2007:
“Dr. Rajendra Prasad was a pain in the butt for Nehru.”
LOL. He was president of Constituent Assembly. So probably he was more aware of his powers than any other president.

Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
Ravi LOL !!! Nehru like Indira was used to having things his way.
Comment by Qalandar on 6 August 2007:
Sad to say that Pratibha Patil is reminding me of the days of Giani Zail Singh, when the only qualification for being president was who was the biggest chamcha of the Gandhi family. The difference in integrity between a Nehru and an Indira etc. is there for all to see: Nehru’s Presidents weren’t necessarily his chamchas, whereas Zail Singh is the man who (infamously) said that he would even sweep the floor if Madam wanted him to! Kalyug hai Kalyug. And now we have a mediocrity (a corrupt mediocrity too) sitting in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. I agree that Nehru liked to get his own way (what powerful politican doesn’t?), but I don’t think it can be denied that as a general matter his standards were much much higher than the low ones of those who have occupied the PM’s chair after him for the most part. And that includes his daughter too.
I thought Kalam was overrated, but noone can deny the affection that Indians generally had for him, and he was definitely a “people’s president”… a “uniter” not a “divider” to use the cliche…
S. Radhakrishnan was a great scholar, his book on Indian philosophy is still required reading in many if not most foundational courses on the subject…I remember reading Shankar Dayal Sharma was also a noted scholar, but I am not familiar with his work…
Comment by Tango on 6 August 2007:
Rocky he said that Sanjay Should be punished, and the main reason is not that he feels that it is right but because he wants to influence the new one Mdam Pratibha Patil.
Why did he pardon Afzal then? It was an open and shut case against him!
Comment by Qalandar on 6 August 2007:
Rocky: re: salman: you are right, but then that’s part of the price of being a celebrity — you are correct ke koi industrialist ya politician ka beta hota to pakda bhi nahin jata, but still that’s no excuse.
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
Tango can you post the link ? Thanks in advance. I tried to google it but could not find anything.
Comment by Tango on 6 August 2007:
Rocky - Abt Salamn (a s before) the law should take its own course but there are VIPs who ran over 7-8 ppl in a BMW and are going almost scott free.
Plus Puru Raj Kumar also did about the same thing but is a free man.
Nawab Pataudi was caught with the carsass of a Black Buck . Why is nothing being said about him ?
Hope you get what I am trying to say!
Comment by rajen on 6 August 2007:
Whoever commits a crime deserves ounishment.Thats why there are laws. But the law should not be blind.Thats why we have judges and punishment is not by a prescription based on a rule book.Sanju has paid enough. If it was someone else it would have been different-is not a valid defense.Legal punishment should take into account the nature of crime and the intent. And thats my problem with the sentence.

@Tango - if prime ministers office doesnot send file to president how can he do anything?
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
I think Salman has split personality- One is to Kar Bhala, Hoga Bhala, and the other is Main wohi Karoonaga jo mera Dil Kahe, Duniya be Damned…
But IMO he is the True and the only Rockstar of India.
Comment by rks on 6 August 2007:
jeegs253 :
Is this a ranking? Authors?
IMO KR Naryanan was better than what this ranking suggests.
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
RKS- Thanks
Tango- Do you know Hindi ?
Ama,Yeh kya keh Rahe ho miyan, I can talk, walk sleep Hindi.
I belong to western UP too.
Comment by Qalandar on 6 August 2007:
agre rks, and Zail Singh was worse– I would be very interested in learning on what basis IT has ranked him at #5…
Comment by rks on 6 August 2007:
If this is a cut and paste then his initials are other way round (It is KR not RK).
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
Q- I agree on Nehru and his standards being higher ( atleast he believed in being SEEN as fair). Why do think Kalam is overrated?
Comment by jeegs253 on 6 August 2007:
@rks - its the ranking done by editors on the basis of Constitutional Propriety , Independence , Integrity , Stature , New initiatives.
Comment by Tango on 6 August 2007:
rks bhai-
That was meant for Rocky who wanted a link !
But I asked him about Hindi because we have friends like Jay and Jesse who are not versed in Hindi.
Comment by jeegs253 on 6 August 2007:
my mistake it should be K R narayan .
Comment by Tango on 6 August 2007:
Zail Singh - A joke that I remember as a child goes like this.
(The president before him was Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy)
Gianiji went for a heart surgery to US, so the doc asks him ( just before the operation)
Are you ready president ?
No, I am Zail singh president !
Comment by Qalandar on 6 August 2007:
I think Kalams pluses were his personal integrity and decency, and that he was seen as “above the fray”. I think his minuses were that he seemed to be susceptible to media taalis and perhaps political pressure, and gave the impression that he had no core constitutional principles, but would do what won him praise from the gallery. On balance definitely one of our better presidents, but I said “overrated” because many people today see him as #1 or thereabouts as president, and I wouldn’t rank him that highly…
Comment by Tango on 6 August 2007:
Kalam lost all respect for me when he seeked a second term.
And when he realised that he is not getting enough support to win he said” I will be willing if I am the consensus candidate”
A typcal ” Yes SAAR” Mallu he turned out to be in the end !
Comment by Tango on 6 August 2007:
Most of his apointments ( to the post of Vice Chancellors), as a visitor to many Central Universities exposed his integrity !
Comment by Ravi on 6 August 2007:
The best thing about Kalaam for me is he did not let an Italian become the prime minister of India.
Actually Zial Singh became a pain in the butt for Rajiv Gandhi
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
We got to realize though that the President has very limited powers and he could only send back the office og profit bill only once which he did.
Also since it is mainly a ceremonial post, the president should be physically fit, not like SD Sharma who would take hours to walk to the podium.
Comment by Qalandar on 6 August 2007:
Re: “A typcal ” Yes SAAR” Mallu he turned out to be in the end !”
This is uncalled for; we should all desist from these sorts of statements (myself included).
PS– I though he was in any event a Tamilian from Rameshwaram? (The town is featured in Mani Rathnam’s Kannathil Muthamittal, although I don’t know where they actually shot it)..
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
Tango- seriously a request- cut out the slur , I know you are doing that on purpose but why ruin an excellant discussion. Please…
Comment by Qalandar on 6 August 2007:
Re: “We got to realize though that the President has very limited powers…”
Yeah Rocky– plus agar President zyaada powers exercise karta hum chillate ke unelected president dekho kitna phail raha hai
Comment by Tango on 6 August 2007:
Rocky - Well Dr. SD Sharma may have been poor healthwise but he was something.
You know what he said to a group consisting of the likes of Sahbuddin & Bukhari ( who obviously were accusinng the indian Govt. of..)
He said ” How can you say that? Remember the first verse of the Holy quran or have you forgotten it? It says ” alhamdo lillahe …. rabbul alimeen”
It does not say ” ” alhamdo lillahe …. rabbul muslimeen”
All praises to the allah , the lord of the world, not the lord of muslims and they were all stunned to silence !
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
I seriously think India needs to adopt US like Prsidential Elections. Only then some serious changes can happen in India. We need people like Sheshan( before he went Senile), Kiran Bedi and Jagmohan.
Comment by rockstar on 6 August 2007:
power is not the only thing to rule india and to show the path to indians this is what u mean to say tango anyway he defined the role of president more nicely he was a true people’s president
Comment by rks on 6 August 2007:
Thanks jeegs.
IMO Kalam is not well versed in Constituition (though he has experts help), but he did well within those circumstances.
Comment by rajen on 6 August 2007:
Pocky,
All three are seriously flawed.
Comment by Rocky on 6 August 2007:
