Had a great week.. saw some incredible movies and they underline the changing face of indian cinema.. here are the must watch hindi movies of next few months and believe me we have a great year ahead..

JOHNNY GADDAR- sriram raghavan is back and how, a MBA turned gangster, who tries to pull off few tricks too many and it’s all mayhem then onwards.. some rock solid turns by vinay pathak, zakir hussain and a brilliant debut from NEIL NITIN MUKESH, its a thriller with a dark heart and wow..

MITTHYA- rajat kapoor is back with his take on the underworld and it just might be the biggest surprise of the year, got a thundering applause at it’s very first screening at the OSIAN’s film festival, a laugh riot with some tremendous performance from Ranveer Shorey.. wasn’t expecting it to be such a trip that it was, a lousy actor replacing a lookalike mob boss, this is the film that Don should have been.. i remember this as one of the first scripts Rajat had written and tried for two long years to meet Ramu just after Satya, nine years before it saw the light of the day and what a film, would love to see ramu’s face when he watches it, will definitely hit the home run..

FROZEN-by shivaji chandrabhushan, was the only indian film shortlisted by the CANNES guys but they didn’t have the money to complete it, finally complete thanks to Anand Surapur and Syed of deluxe labs, shot in Black and white, brilliantly by Shankar Raman (who also wrote the film), story of a family in laddakh who face intrusion from the army, reminds one of the srilankan classic, camera’d’ore winner “The Forsaken Land”.. brilliant filmmaking

WEDNESDAY- have always believed in Neeraj pandey ever since i read few of his early scripts, i know nothing about the film but eagerly waiting

SHOONYA- My producer of black friday makes a very assured first film again with brilliant turns by KK and satish kaushik..(loved hearing my own dialogues), an impactful film shot on HD about a cricketer caught in a matchfixing scandal, inspired by T.S. Eliot’s “Murder in the cathedral”..proud of this one..

STRANGERS- by anand rai, nice thriller, when it started i almost thought “has he remade STRANGERS ON A TRAIN” but my fear was unfounded, the film takes it’s own course with twists and turns, only too high on digital transitions not much to my taste but definitely a much better and refined thriller than Naqab

there were some others too that i couldn’t see but was raved about, Kya Tum ho by Anish ahluwalia, Via Darjeeling by arindam nandy

And my old favourite MANORAMA- six feet under, which premieres today at OSIAN’s and i am back, Vasan called and said he loved it and the audience too, wish i was there..

it’s the next lot of happiness and things are surely changing …
