Hey, this is an interesting thread for sure.
I’m not going to take a single star but I could give some of my all time favourite songs and picturisations. (mostly post 90s)

    1. Mujhe Neend Na Aye (Dil) Aamir-Madhuri

    2. Kehdo Ke Tum (Tezaab) Anil-Madhuri

    3. Pehla Nasha (Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander)

    5. Iss Pyaar Ko Mein Kya Naam Doon… (Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai) Kareena-Tusshar

    6. Tauba Tumhare… (Chalte Chalte) SRK-Rani

    7. Humne Ghar Chora Hai…(Dil) Aamir-Madhuri)

    8. Tumhi Dekho Na…(Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna) SRK-Rani

    9. Saathiya…(Love) Salman-Revathy

    10. Bunty Aur Babli (title song) Abhishek-Rani

Jay: I love your list though…I forgot to add ‘Oh re Chori’ from Lagaan.

At the same time, I’d pick up some of the songs from your Salman Khan list too…

I somehow couldn’t add too many SRK songs, I really don’t like them all that much. I prefer songs from his older films like Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. There was a song from Maya Memsaab which I used to like….I don’t remember thje lyrics all that well but it was a nice song.

But none of the Yash Raj numbers with SRK have touched me. I wouldn’t add DDLJ, DTPH nor any of his other films with K JO…Many of these films, in general, are so plastic that merely good picturisation doesn’t work for me.

Wow, this thread really demands great recall. Unfortunately, I can’t come up with many.

My most favourite song picturisation in recent years has been Tera Hi Karam from Karam. Like Sandy, I quite like the colour coded Tumhi Dekho Naa from KANK. Naina Thag Lenge from Omkara is another favourite. Oh yes, Khalbali form RDB and Yun Hi Chala Chal from Swades.

What else? Kaate Nahin Kat-te from Mr. India gave me my first wet dream. Love the title track of Khuda Gawah, Radha Kaise Na Jale from Lagaan and oh how did I forget Na Jaane Kahaan Se Aayi Hai and Tera Bimaar Mera Dil from Chalbaaz.

Gosh, I can keep coming up with many yaar. Will think of more.

RKS- The magic of Maya Memsaab is not Gulzar-Lata but Hrdaynath Mangeshkar. the man is a bonafide musical genuis, and the only composer I hold in higher regard than AR Rahman. You must listen to his Marathi stuff, he had always been way ahead of his times in terms of compositions and arrangement. Listen to Mee Raat Takli from Jait Re Jait if you can get your hands on it.

O Rasiya was certainly an extremely effective moment in MP though it was one of the snipped songs if I’m not mistaken. One of the big disappointments for me as a viewer was seeing the qawwali and a couple of the other songs in truncated versions. Wish there were a market for director’s cuts in india! Here in the US they’re geniuses at this sort of thing. Hit films get director’s cuts, but flop films do too. Sometimes flop films get more than one additional DVD release in this sense!

Abzee – in Tauba Tauba song from Chalte Chalte, there is a moment in the song where Rani bites SRK’s ears !

“RKS- I’m sending you the song . Check your mail.”

    Got it ..Thanks.

“What’s with Rani Mukerji and nibbling/biting ears?”
    was in response to
“This is the song where Rani for a brief second bites SRK’s ear right ? ”

Talking of song: I like Satrangi re the most in Dil Se, Sonu’s rendition, Locales of Ladaakh, SRK and Manisha’s chemistry and ofcourse Manisha’s rope dress :) .

Abzee: That makes my life even more miserable knowing that there was a complete release in India!

I have the DVD, I should check out whether it’s complete here. because there is a second disc of deleted scenes but these don’t feature the rest of those songs.

But yes this is a wonderful film though I prefer his The Hunt (La Caza).

I didn’t actually like the MP soundtrack as much as most of Rahman’s efforts this decade. Barring the stirring ‘Mangal Mangal’ I found it average. Still even the average Rahman is better than most, its all relative in the end.

My favorite song this year and picturisation is still Tere Bina, but Bol Na Halke is staking a big claim for both ! Annoyingly, I have not heard this song ONCE on the radio, yet the JBJ title song is on everyday.

I like Kavita krishnamurthy’s “Mai Vari Vari” from MP. I see people using for boogie Woogie and other singing competitions.

I do agree that some #s get sidelined due to other foot tapping #s. Like in Salaam Namaste, Sonu and Mahalaxmi’s “Tu Jahaan”.

Man if I am not mistaken this was the period Suniel Shetty was trying to dance on atleast one song in each of his movies.
There was this one with karishma Kapoor too – when she totally changed her looks and came back !
