SWAMI doesn't quiet sound so B-grade after seeing a lot more of the film closer to it's release! Plus both Juhi and Bajpai are favourites though I think with THE TRAIN this weekend it won't have much chance at the Boxoffice, and Pankuj Kapur's DHARM seems to be getting all the critical acclaim. I can't wait to see DHARM---Pankuj Kapur is an all-time favourite and IMO one of Hindi cinema's greatest actors!

Thanks for the compliment:-) Akkipedia sounds great!:)!

Rana was superb in 'Shabnam Mausi'.

Am interested in seeing 'swami'..somehow the by line was quite confounding'a film choreographed by ganesh acharya'??!! Thats weird..even from a choreographer. But the promos are endearing.

And BTw akki you are our very own wiki at Ng eh? past present future..sabka gyan !!

Akkipedia..how does that sound?

Kaveeta: Agree on everything you've said, I'd rank Irrfan as a better actor than Kay Kay too, and to even out the comparison I do think Irrfan has hade "richer" characters than Kay Kay has so far. Nonetheless holding his own against Big B in SARKAR was quiet a feat! I love Kay Kay's earlier performances like BHOPAL EXPRESS and DEEWARR-LBOHH!

Manoj Bajpai got surprisingly good reviews for 1971! His SWAMI is just around the corner, and he has Sanjay Guptas DUS KAHANIYAAN and a english film with Rahul Bose called THE WHISPERERS! I think there might be some life for Bajpai still!

Rana is sadly a wasted talent. He just didn't get the right type of roles. Have you seen his performance in SHABNAM MAUSI? Just amazing, he plays a transvestite to perfection.

He will be the main villain in the upcoming AWARAPAN.

Kay kay and Irrfan both gifts from the tv industry..Modest beginnings do not necessarily translate into mediocre career graph. If anything this is what both have proven. Though Irrfan is an actor with a tremendous range as compared to kaykay methinks. Irrfan has this knack of 'becoming' the character, which is rare and a sign of great talent. Kk perhaps has not been offered roles of such varying intensity..Time will tell.

Two more from the T.V. fraternity who managed to carve a niche but not sustain it were Manoj Bajpai and Ashutosh Rana..both actors with immense potential but who somewhere along the way, got lost. Sad.

Totally agree on Irrfan! Im actually surprised at how fast Irrfan has become such a favourite! Since his performance in MAQBOOL the actor hasn't unimpressive! Even in a film like 7 1/2 PHERE he stood out.

He's definetly hit a hattrick of sorts of late with METRO, THE NAMESAKE and now A MIGHTY HEART! I'm also a huge Kay Kay fan too!

I saw some clips on T.V...not promos per se. Should be interesting. Irrfan has become a strong favourite. Hes a thorough gentleman to add to it and modest to the hilt.

WATER has been on my TO WATCH list for quiet some time and I even have the DVD, just haven't got around to watching it yet! Frankly, nothing Deepa Mehta has made so far as excited me much, and her sensibilities as a filmmaker sometimes is questionable. EARTH is her best film. FIRE I find HIGHLY overrated! Just because the movie was a first for it's kind(dealing with lesbianism) doesn't automatically make it a great movie in my view.

BTW did you catch the promos of A MIGHTY HEART with Jolie and Irrfan?

Anytime Kaveetaaji:-)! This is a fine review...simply one of the best i've read on METRO alongside Baradwaj Sir's! Im dying to see METRO, hoping to catch it soon though.

Having just seen THE NAMESAKE recently, I revisited your review on that too which is when I stumbled upon this one:-)...

Score so far is

1) AGREE=1(THE NAMESAKE)
2) DISAGREE=1 (NISHABD)
