a debut w/ slb, most likely a 3 movie deal w/ yrf, a rumored movie w/ hirani…i dont see how that’s not considered being spoon fed THE BIGGEST movies. i’m not sure about ohters but i know for a fact that rishi asked hirani to do a movie w/ ranbir. this has to be by far the biggest lineup of movies for a debut from anywhere…forget debut even est. stars dont get these types of movies…the closest 2 that have come to working w/ the same people are srk and amitabh.

I saw Bommarillu recently. It was way better than Nuvvosthante Nenoddantana (the only other Sidharth Telugu film I have seen), but still not a film I liked. Siddharth’s look-at-me-I’m-a-tween act really gets on my nerves and how many films is Prakashraj gonna play the patriarch in?! That being said the film is well-made, well-directed, and despite a fairly predictable storyline feels fresh. Though there’s something odd about having a hero so throroughly blasted off screen by the figure who plays his dad — Prakashraj is too much for Sid to handle (sorry desigirl!)

coolp and Sameer: I am not a fan of any star but I am a fan of good movies. IMO movies are director medium and stars just add some value to it. I do agree we have some bias when judging any person (movie stars included).

1)I find it hard to respond to digs that are sexist in nature, communal, and or have this kind of dig at one’s sexual preference. Because I am actually not offended with this sort of thing. I am simply not prejudiced against women or biased on grounds of ethnicity/religion or even on issues of sexual preference. To be offended with this sort of thing suggests that one finds it an affront to one’s ‘honor’ and I don’t! leaving aside the fact that the question of whether I actually have ‘honor’ to begin with isn’t exactly established! I took exception to the communalism charge for some other reasons but in any case all these digs reveal something about you. You might think that it’s an insult to call a ‘man’ a ‘woman’. I don’t. Nor does the suggestion that one might be ‘gay’ which is why one is not praising Ash’s beauty!

3)There is a pragmatic issue here as well, if I discounted all those who are ‘gay’ and/or bisexual I would have to discount many great minds throughout history, in every walk of life, and in every human society. I think part of the recent star-centrism on NG has arisen from the fact that we have gone a pretty long stretch in both B’wood and H’wood without too many notable movies– hopefully that will change with TPP, Spiderman 3 etc.

hmmmm….. There are very few people who leave mark(in terms of acting, if they have not done drama, stage)in their first film.

There are few things I have noticed when critics start calling any star that their acting is good.

1. As soon as their movies start doing good.
2. They keep quiet with certain soberness.

ps: I am unable to open NG during US daytime, but it starts working ok after 4PM PST.

the post was removed however i visit akshay’s blog and his reviews are great.. i have been a regular on NG for the past one year so i wrote what i felt..

but i have something very important to discuss with you ..

1)Tango has never ever said anything positive about Aamir in any sense
2)The same goes for Hrithik though the difference here is that when Abhishek is part of the discussion suddenly the most favorable things are said about Hrithik! But again even this not beyond a point
3)Abhishek is the classic example here. After Dhoom Tango was jubilant on Indolink about Abhishek having a hit because he was Amitabh’s son. Suddenly something happened to him after this. What? Abhishek got a little bigger than he expected! leading upto BnB he kept insisting the film had flop written all over it, he tried his level best to pull it down once it had released, and everyone knows the rest of the story. Suddenly John became important for D2, Bachchan for BnB, Sarkar, Dutt for Dus, Nana and Ritesh for BM and so on. Tango in fact said on a few occasions rather stunningly that he preferred Abhishek before Yuva which makes him the only person on the planet to hold that view!
4)In general any non-SRK big film is either ignored by Tango or he says somewhat negative things. last year this was the case with RDB, Fanaa (again kept suggesting the film wouldn’t work and so on), Krrish, LRM (kept pulling down the initial), D2 (was around for a few days, then disappeared, reappeared much later to pull down the initial!).
5)The only star who has never had anything remotely negative said about him is SRK. In fact even when he makes a joke about Amar Singh it is defended to death! And his films are again defended no matter what. Tango made average successes out of even Paheli and Swades!
6)Even though he claims he’s the biggest Bachchan fan he systematically attacks any and every thing Bachchan is associated with from his son to Amar Singh. These days he’s rather eagerly waiting for Samajvadi’s removal in UP. Wonder why given that the beneficiary is another caste party in the BSP!
7)But yes Abhishek is the key, the man who disturbs him like no one else.
8)He is only positive about stars that don’t become too big or films that don’t gross too much. The recent NL is classic example!

The evidence is simply massive. I don’t keep squabbling with him for no reason. I remember him from the very first time he even showed up at Indolink!

I think when Aby baby started he was awkward, hesitant but since then and by the time Yuva came his demeanor on screen and his acting skills has improved tremendously and he is here to stay and very likely to challenge for the top position . I don’t about you guys but in Bluff Master and since then I have started seeing a swagger in the Chota B, which I guess comes with success and confidence. His dances which used to look clumsy before look stylish now. I used to always cringe when he danced before but not now, I see everyone around not fans comment about his dances, walking style etc.

I think post Guru he is here to stay and if JBJ clicks and Drona (very nervous about it) succeed, he will be in the top echelon. Waiting to hear your take on my question Abid Bhai.

i have read that utmost care was taken to launch hrithik cinematographer played a huge role to present the lead actor well..

while abhi Mr bachchan was going thru bad phase in 2000 the bachchan family did not have the insight or the smartness to pick good directors and present their son well
