Rs. 88 crores?

By Taran Adarsh, April 24, 2007 – 02:50 IST

That Shah Rukh Khan is the undisputed badshaah has been proved yet again. Extremely passionate about movies, every film starring the King Khan automatically makes news. The latest development pertains to his home-production OM SHANTI OM, being directed by choreographer-director Farah Khan.

Reportedly, Adlabs has bought the worldwide rights of the film for a staggering amount — Rs. 88 crores. Although everyone is tightlipped about the deal, a source from Adlabs denies that the company has offered that price to the producers of OM SHANTI OM.

“We have evinced interest in acquiring the rights of this film. But you can’t state that the negotiations are on since there’s no move to that effect. Besides, the pricing [Rs. 88 crores] is not realistic,” the source states.

With films being sold for astronomical amounts, a film starring SRK would only fetch a premium price as and when SRK decides to sell the rights. Let’s await an official statement from the actor!

whatever the fate of the movie, as SRK is not distributing this one, he’ll make lots of money from OSO. For his production house, even Paheli was an earner.

I don’t really trust the number too much here. Not that it isn’t possible. From this story the main thing I would take away is that OSO is likely going to distrubuted by Adlabs and that’s about it. Just because th media was wrong about the Akshay deal with Adlabs worth 35 cr, which actually turned out to be a deal for Vipul Shah.

Anyways, although SRK’s production house will likely make a real nice profit on OSO, I wouldn’t be suprised if TZP makes Aamir even more! Remember the budget is ~5 cr for TZP and Aamir getting over 50 cr for all the rights when all is said and done is likely.

So this seems to be the latest news doing the rounds in trade circles. Seems that by the time it releases, it would easily break the opening week record of Dhoom-2.
SRK is still the man to remove from the numero uno position.

I’ve seen very few movies to be honest though ones you mentioned like DDLJ and Lagaan, Munnabhai series are favs. In fact the DDLJ was on Sony on Sunday, caught the second half of that after finally watching Namastey London. Thought NL was pretty good :-)

I think a lot of people like both Hrithik and Abhishek. In fact as I’ve said before I’ve never known anyone who disliked Hrithik. I am myself not a great fan of his but I certainly don’t mind watching him. As I also said at the time Hrithik and Aamir today have the lowest negativity index barring Bachchan himself.

I like to visit NG for the obvious discussions that go on here. I used to be a regular visitor to the indo link forum for a long time and the reason I came to know about NG was because Akshay Shah used to post his mini review there and would suggest to go to NG for the complete review.

I have been following the war between Tango(Lastango) Abid Bhai and Satyam since the indo link days , Obviously agree with Satyam more than Abid Bhai even though I feel Abid Bhai is very knowledgeable and respect him for his opinions.

Satyam writes some beautiful stuff even though it might turn off some people the other way. Akshay Shah is awesome and Jay Shah does a great job too.

Yes, they have a better chance of beating SA than Aus as they lost to SA by only one run. I doubt they will be able to beat Aus in the final (Aus has a psychological edge as they recently beat them in the super 8s) unless Australia throw away their wickets in the semis or the final. Australians are mentally very tough and even their tail enders can beat the shit out of any bowling attack. I really want SL to win the WC.
