B.O. update: ‘Namastey London’ springs a surprise
It was expected to start slow, what with the examinations and the cricket match [India versus Sri Lanka] hitting the business hard. But Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s third Hindi outing NAMASTEY LONDON had more than an encouraging start, starting with 50%-60% occupancy at most screens. However, the evening shows went down [as predicted in our review] due to the crucial match, but the reports are positive and there is all-round optimism that the collections will gather speed from Saturday onwards.
The second release, THE NAMESAKE [English], caters to a niche audience and its opening at multiplexes was around 15%-20%.
