MUMBAI: The Kerala territory of new Tamil film, Sivaji: The Boss, starring Rajnikant, has been acquired for a whopping Rs 31 million (Rs 3.1 crore).
The film is directed by S Shankar. A source in the southern film trade says, “Rajnikant is the most powerful man in Kollywood and the highest paid actor in India. It has become a trend among distributors in Kerala to pay astronomical sums to buy the rights of anticipated Tamil films. A few months ago, the Surya – Jyothika starrer, Jilendra Oru Kaadhal, too was acquired for a huge price, but the film flopped at the box-office.”
Adds the source, “Palakkad Govindhan of GSR Combines has bought the rights of Sivaji for Rs 31 million (Rs 3.1 crore). Everybody is convinced that nothing will go wrong with this, the 154th film starring Rajni. The film is likely to be released in May.”

Looks like this one is arriving in May, which likely means atleast another 2 months before Rahman’s soundtrack releases.
On a related note, it looks like AR Rahman’s Rockstar with Imitiaz Ali and John Abraham is shelved for the moment as UTV gave away John’s dates meant for Rockstar to another film. http://www.mid-day.com/hitlist.....150258.htm
