Yes, and in addition Devesh is also over there. I propose a motion: anyone who lives in the vicinity and misses Iruvar on the big screen should be banned from this forum! Unless there are compelling medical reasons in which case the relevant doctor reports should be forwarded to Rohit for verification!

I have emailed this link to everyone I know in Dubai…one person has confirmed that he will go, the others can’t count on my friendship if they don’t LOL

btw, the Dubai film festival has the right idea: last year they showed a Tamil film for the first time and it was (you guessed it!) Kandukondain Kandukondain…LOL…this year they are moving on to better stuff…

And I thought I was film crazy; when I told a friend of mine in Dubai about Iruvar, his reply to me is worth pasting in full:

“Already bought the ticket for Iruvar along with
18 others. I have bought 19 tickets for the 7 day festival and taken leave from work.”

    WHOA!

There was a Naruse festival in NY a few years ago. They screened about 25-30 of the director’s films. A friend of mine saw about 19 of these! Yeah there are lots out there! In this case I would just buy tickets for multiple Iruvar showings if there were more than one. I could easily watch it every day for a few days.

I wish the DIFF website didn’t say unprofessional stuff like “South India’s superstar” Mohanlal though…it’s not untrue of course, but the lumping together of three-four major film industries is sloppy. It’s a bit like saying Gerard Depardieu was a “European superstar” in the 1980s…

ESPECIALLY in a city with such a large Malayalee dispora!
